I am interested in joining your gym in Elizabeth, NJ, on Morris Avenue because the location is convenient for me plus they offer yoga which I am trying to incorporate into my workout. However, when I looked at the reviews for this location, the reviews are absolutely horrible. Everything from old, broken, rusted equipment to no air conditioning, filthy and dirty, rude, horrible customer service and people being ripped off. If this is a franchise, isn't there a certain standard that must be maintained? If I had a business that carried my name, I would not allow owners to practice such unprofessionalism. I want to join, but I'm almost scared I may catch something as filthy as people are saying it is. Maybe someone should look into this, because this place sounds like a health hazard.

If you signed up for one year only be careful when your contract is about to expire. My contract was up to September 2018. If my daughter didnt personally go to cancel hers I would not have known that contracts are automatically renewed!!! Never heard such a thing... to renew or not must be me to decide. And you are to go and cancel no later than one month earlier otherwise they charge an extra month. In fact I cancelled but the same been charged for Ictober when I won’t be going!! I call these people thieves.

The gym has been closed for over a month now that keep billing you and no one is available to speak to I have tried numerous times to cancel membership by phone email and certified letter no luck. Corporate doesn't answer back and fort lee branch is padlocked. This company is crooked and the next step is to go to a lawyer and sue for harassment and fraud

Club Metro Usa Customer Care Review from Brooklyn, New York

The Fort Lee gym seems to be under new management. It really bad. No air-condition up stairs, blasting music that you cant hear over it. Very clique like since new manager. The guy lies down on a mattress upstairs in tje office and mocks you when you have a complaint. I wouldnt suggest joinong this gym. The paper towel dispenser has been broken for months, they put avsing on it rather than fix it. The original staff was great, but the whole atmosphere has changed.

Club Metro Usa Membership Review

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I was a member at the Elizabeth, NJ location from August of 2014 to March 2015. From the day I started there, I had to endure the most vulgar and disgusting music( if you want to call it that) Gansta Rap. A continuous stream of filthy language, subject matters such as sodomy and other perverted sexual acts. This trash was played at such excruciating volume levels, so wearing headphones or ear plugs is useless. I spoke to the manager several times, but I guess he was just giving me lip service when he told me that they were not supposed to be playing it and that it would stop, because it continued. Apparently, the employees and management of Club Metro, Elizabeth, NJ have no respect for the sensitivities of their members. They also lack any sense of responsibility for younger members, those under 18. Their staff consists of nothing but atreet thugs posing as personal trainers, who have an attitude of put up or shut up. I comfronted one of these idiots (Fransisco) and told him that I thought he was a demented, filthy *** and he canceled my membership. THANK YOU FRANCISCO, because I couldn't take listening to your filthy garbage any longer. ***!!

Poor Facilities, Unable to cancel membership even after expiration

This is by far the worst gym I have been to within the past few years. I visited the gym shortly after it was built and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the facilities and programs offered. I promptly signed a one time contract for a year of membership to use the facilities. This pleasant feeling was short lived and the true nature of the gym. After about three months the quality of the gym began to deteriorate as maintenance of its equipment and wash rooms were virtually nonexistent. I soon stopped attending the gym 6 months into my membership. One month before my membership expired, I was notified that the contract would automatically renew itself despite only signing up for one year, which was not specified upon signing the original contract. I then promptly sent a signed certified mail to my local Metro USA of Fort Lee requesting the cancellation of my membership upon expiration. A few days later I was greeted with a letter from Club Metro, dated exactly three days before receiving the mail and two days after I sent out my registered mail, containing a brand new monthly contract signed by MNP which is not my signature. I have never had this much trouble cancelling a gym membership before and definably not recommend anyone else going through the hassle of needing to deal with this type of behavior. Any company that needs to hold its clients hostage is in bad shape and will not last very long.

Beyond any acceptable level!!!

Dear Ladies! Beware!!! Fort Lee Gym location has a male cleaning assistant in ladies changing room/bathroom/showers, and he is there every night right after exercise classes are over, and everyone need to change and take a shower or use sauna. Members complain doesn't help, in fact few staff members are being extremely RUDE, acting bizarre and disrespectful to members lately. Don't sign up with a gym unless you don't mind a man in your locker room, shower/sauna facilities, and by bathroom for 30 min each evening!!! The male, so called cleaning person, is hanging out in ladies locker room, stick his nose everywhere, ones took my belongings that was next to sauna door, and undressed ladies were inside!!! THIS IS OUTRAGE!!! NEVER HEARD OF ANYTHING LIKE THAT! DISRESPECT TO ALL WOMEN MEMBERS! OUR PHYSICAL PRIVACY IS BEING DISRESPECTED. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR OVER SEVERAL MONTH!!! STAFF IS UNHELPFUL! NO GM EVER AROUND THIS TIME! STAFF REFUSE TO GIVE NUMBERS TO CONTACT GM, MAIN MANAGEMENT! FRONT DESK MEMBERS ACTED RUDE, and REFUSED TO GIVE THEIR NAMES TO MEMBERS!!! BEWARE!!! THIS GYM BECAME A NON STOP STRESS BECAUSE OF THIS! Too BAD, because class instructors are great, but I am not going because I can't use changing room, or sauna, and after you work out for 60-90 min, and sweat, you need to take a shower and change!

Outraged

Do not join this fitness center! You will regret it! As you walk in greeted by smiles and pleasantries (prior to joining), you will quickly learn that it will not last. I'm an older lady, with major back problems, I explained when I signed-up for training that I needed to have a trainer who could work with me and my condition. Again, with all smile, they gladly confirmed that they had the appropriate trainers, however; as trainers would quit, I received no trainer or training (constant revolving door with staff). I ended up losing training sessions that expired because they would not assign a trainer to me. I went through multiple trainers (over one year)who were mere kids and did not work there for very long. Most staff members are young, inexperienced and unprofessional. Management hires them based on how well built their bodies are and not their skills or brains. Speaking of management "the manager of training at the route9 and route 516 facilities is referred to as "Daddy" by a training manager when addressing member issues. I've called over 32 times to speak with the owner, training manager and customer service. However; after leaving messages, I received one call from a young man in customer service who could not help. It's been 4 months and to date, no one else has returned my call. But they certainly took the money. Oh, how can I forget…they offered to give me the sessions if I added paid for new training sessions Again, I plead with you, go to a professional facility with professional staff, who will care about their members, i.e. Robert Wood Johnson.
